Dr David Makanjuola, Chairperson and Trustee - Consultant Nephrologist, St. Helier Hospital.

David graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He trained in Nephrology at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ and The Royal Free Hospitals. He undertook research on the genetic basis of familial haematuria.  He is the Training Programme Director for Core Medicine at St. Helier Hospital in Surrey where he works as a consultant Nephrologist. Current interests include haemodialysis, renal physiology, vasculitis, teaching and the history of Nephrology.  

Dr Michael Bending, Founder and Trustee - Consultant Nephrologist, St. Helier Hospital.

Michael is returning from retirement to help with the NHS initiatives to combat COVID-19.

Anita Abena-Amoako, Secretary and Trustee.

Anita has been involved with The Kidney Fund since 2015. For her day job Anita is a Senior Associate within the financial service regulation sector.

Gemma Dunleavy, Administrator.

Gopal Hooper, Honorary Treasurer and Trustee.

Gopal is a retired Barrister with an extensive practice in serious crime and was previously a Crown Court Recorder for 24 years. Apart from working in England, Gopal has undertaken consultancies in Africa dealing with matters pertaining to legal systems, administration of justice, access to justice and the rule of law. Gopal is also a trustee on the board of Sutton Community Transport.

Louise Palomino, Trustee.

Louise joined the Kidney Fund as a Trustee and member of the Fund-Raising Committee in 2018. She is currently Grants Director of the Road Safety Trust.

Chris Howard, Trustee.
