Dr Bending 50th Work Anniversary Celebrations
Dr Bending was surprised to find dozens of well-wishers in wait for him in the garden of SWTIRR on the 20th of July. We were all there to celebrate our extraordinary friend on the 50th anniversary of Dr Bending’s first day as doctor in the NHS. 50 years serving as a doctor in the NHS & 30 years as Chairman of The Kidney Fund, we have a lot to thank Dr Bending for. Of course, he was having none of that pomp and ceremony rubbish but he was visibly touched to see long retired nurses from his early days at St Helier along with patients he has known for decades. We were also joined by the Trust CEO Daniel Elkeles, Chairman of SWTIRR Professor Bruce Hendry and Trust Medical director Dr James Marsh. James share some memories of his own early days at the trust and the odd disagreement he has with his office mate Dr Bending. Congratulations Mike, now that you’ve finished the warm up time to get down to some real work fundraising for The Kidney Fund.
