On the 8th October 2008, Lord (Brian) Rix hosted a fundraising reception
in the Cholmondeley Suite of the House of Lords
in aid of the South West Thames Kidney Fund and the future of Renal Research

** £53,500 WAS RAISED! **

Many thanks to all our generous guests, to all who donated, and to our generous sponsors, Roche, Amgen, Synermed, Diaverum and Medical Access for this fantastic result!

It was a perfect evening - warm enough for guests to filter out onto the terrace overlooking the Thames, with the backdrop of the illuminated London Eye and the uplit grandeur of the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben making everything just a little more special

As the guests arrived, they were presented to Lord and Lady Rix by Dr Michael and Mrs Carol Bending

Waiters circulated with drinks and canapes while the guests mingled and looked at the items available in the silent auction of art and miscellany which carried on throughout the evening.

There were amusing and informative talks from Dr Michael Bending, Lord Rix,
Lord Rogers, Patron of the Kidney Fund
and our Patron, Lord (Richard) Rogers,
followed by talks from Theo Paphitis and Max Clifford strongly emphasising (each in his own special and very witty way) the need for support for research into kidney disease.

And a wonderful and extremely successful evening ended with many of the guests enjoying an historical tour of the Houses of Parliament.
