There is an opportunity coming up to get more involved with the Fund by helping as its Treasurer. Simon Ling has been Treasurer to the Kidney Fund for a good many years now. He took over on the death of Roy Godden who had guided the finances of the Fund throughout the early money raising stages and the building of the Institute. His firm had been the auditor during that period so he rashly swapped a fee paying assignment for a voluntary one!
However he feels the time has come for him to hand over. He is no longer an active practising accountant and has other interests which make it more difficult for him to attend the meetings regularly. In fact he has never had any personal connection with the Renal Unit at St Helier, as neither he nor any member of his immediate family have suffered kidney disease.
Are you able to take on the job of Treasurer? It involves attending the Trustees meetings every two months and making a report on the financial situation from the figures supplied by the very efficient secretary to the Fund; and preparing the annual accounts for examination and reporting to the AGM.
If not you, do you know of a friend or family member who might wish to take an interest and provide a voluntary service in this way? Please ask around!
If you are interested or would like to know more please email admin@swtirr.org.uk or info@kidneyfund.org.uk. Leave your contact details and Simon will get in touch.
